E-commerce + Shopify FAQs
What’s the difference between Shopify and Shopify Plus?
Regular Shopify is great for most small and mid-sized brands: it gives you a solid checkout, theme system, and app ecosystem without a huge monthly bill. Shopify Plus is built for higher-volume stores that need things like more automation, more control at checkout, and more stores or regions under one umbrella.
You don’t need Plus to work with us. We’ll look at your current and projected volume, markets, and tech plans, then give you an honest recommendation.
Why is UX/UI design so important for Shopify stores?
In e-commerce, small UX issues become lost revenue: confusing navigation, cluttered product pages, awkward mobile experiences, or a cart that’s easy to abandon. Good UX/UI makes it simple for people to find products, compare, add to cart, and check out without friction.
Can you redesign my existing Shopify store, or do you only build new ones?
We do a lot of redesigns. If you already have a Shopify store that’s working “okay” but feels dated, clunky, or hard to scale, we’ll start by auditing what’s there and keeping what’s already performing.
From there, we’ll rework key flows like: product discovery, PDPs, cart, and mobile navigation to be clearer and more conversion-friendly. When it makes sense, we can phase changes in so you’re not ripping everything up at once and risk hurting your conversion rate.
How long does it take to design or redesign a Shopify store?
Most Shopify UX/UI projects land in the 4–8 weeks range, depending on scope: how many templates we’re designing (homepage, collection, PDP, cart, landing pages), how much research we’re doing, and how many stakeholders are involved.
Smaller, focused engagements like: tightening your PDPs and cart, or designing a high-impact landing page can be turned around faster. If we’re also handling implementation in Shopify, we’ll scope and layer that timeline in as well.
Do you only design in Figma, or can you also implement the changes in Shopify?
We always start in Figma so we can map flows, test ideas, and get alignment before touching your live store. Files are built with clear components, states, and notes so implementation isn’t a guessing game.
From there, we can either work with your existing Shopify developer or handle implementation with our own dev team.
Do you consider conversion rate optimization (CRO) in your designs?
Yes, CRO isn’t an afterthought. We look at how people currently move through your store, where they drop off, and what information or reassurance they’re missing at key steps like collection, PDP, and cart.
Do you work with Shopify apps and third-party tools, or prefer custom code only?
We’re happy to work with both. Apps are great for solving common problems quickly: subscriptions, reviews, bundles, upsells — as long as they don’t slow the store down or fight the UX we’re trying to create.
Where it makes sense, we’ll lean on leaner, more custom solutions to avoid app bloat. Part of our job is helping you decide which tools actually support the experience and which ones are just getting in the way.
Can you design for multi-currency or multi-language Shopify stores?
Yes. We can design for Shopify Markets, multi-currency, and multi-language setups, including how selectors, headers, and navigation should behave for different regions or languages.
We also think about practical details: longer translations, local expectations, and how to keep things clear on mobile. Then we work with your dev team (or ours) to make sure the UX we design is actually implemented properly.
Will I be able to update the store myself after the project?
That’s the goal. We design with Shopify’s theme editor and sections in mind, so you’re not stuck calling a developer every time you want to change a headline, swap an image, or launch a new landing page variation.
As part of handoff, we can walk you through how the new templates and sections work and provide short videos or notes your team can reference later. If you’d rather stay hands-off, we can support you with ongoing updates too.
Do you offer ongoing UX and design support after launch?
Many clients keep us on to help with new landing pages, UX tweaks, seasonal updates, and ongoing improvements as they learn more from their analytics and customers.
We’re also there on the strategy side: advising on what to test next, where to focus, and how to prioritize changes that actually move the needle.
That can look like a light retainer or a simple “as-needed” relationship, depending on how fast you’re moving.
